What’s your evidence? Stand on Scripture

Early in my ministry, there was a man who came to church for a visit. He knew that we preached and taught the laying of hands for healing. He had two fatal cancers: esophagus & stomach.

Since he wanted healing and wasn’t from our church, I had to “locate” him first. (In the world, a doctor won’t prescribe someone drugs without first diagnosing. Similarly, the Church has to spiritually locate someone.)

My first question to him: “Are you a born again Christian?”

Yes” he replied.

How long have you been going to church?” I asked.

“A long time.”

“Do they teach healing in your church?”

Of course!”

“What scriptures are you basing your faith on?”

“No particular scripture,” he replied.

I said… “Then you’ll get no particular answer!”

This is a common response from Christians. They might claim to have all the faith in the world! But when you ask them what Scriptures they’re standing on, they will scratch their heads.

If you went into court without any evidence for your position, how would you expect the judge to rule?

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.

Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.

Reply back and tell me– what are you believing for and what’s your evidence?
