Never be alone again– Fact #1 about the Holy Spirit

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever– the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:16-17

The Holy Spirit is not wind, fire, rain, fog, or a dove. He is sometimes described as these things, but that’s not really who He is.

Fact #1: The Holy Spirit is a person— more of a person than any of us!

You can fall in love with a person. You can fellowship with a person. You will never be alone once you’re a born again Christian. In fact, it’s an insult to the Holy Spirit if you say that you’re lonely!

  • Under the old covenant, the Holy Spirit is said to be either “with” someone or “upon” someone. “With” means personally, while “upon” means ministry.
  • Under the new covenant, the Holy Spirit is either “in” someone (personal) or “fills” someone (ministry).

Jesus was saved, but He waited for the power— the filling of the Holy Spiritbefore He started His ministry. And in three years, Jesus accomplished more than any other human on the planet!
